France

The French used natural materials to make the scents, such as flower petals (roses, etc.) and fruit peelings to make their scents smell fruity or floral. The most preferred scents there are lavender, myrtle, mimosa, and roses. Perfume was first invented in France; in the 14 century, they started cultivating flowers for their scent. During the period of the Renaissance, perfumes were mostly used by royalty/ wealthy to cover up their normal body odors. In 1656, perfumed gloves were popular.
